Apple Shares New 'One Night' Ad Showcasing iPhone 7 Camera Performance in Low Light

As part of its newest "Shot on iPhone" advertising campaign, Apple today uploaded a video entitled "One Night" to its YouTube channel. The spot features videos and images captured by the iPhone 7 on the same night around the world.

The images come from 16 photographers across 15 cities on six continents and were all taken on November 5, 2016. Apple is using the photographs and videos as part of a "One Night" print and billboard campaign that debuted last week.

According to Apple, the "One Night" campaign is designed to showcase the low light photography capabilities of the iPhone 7, featuring the everything from clubs in Johannesburg, South Africa to rooftops in Shanghai, China to ice caves in Iceland.

Some of the photographers tackled extreme climates in search of the perfect shot. Chicago-based photographer Reuben Wu ventured to Java, Indonesia to photograph the 130 active volcanoes, using an iPhone 7 attached to a drone to capture breathtaking views of Gunung Karang's lava flow after dark. Ruairidh McGlynn traveled to Iceland to photograph the foreboding terrain of the Arctic, traveling overnight by dog sled.

Apple is displaying the "One Night" photographs in 25 countries around the world. The company's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus feature optical image stabilization, an f/1.8 aperture, and an improved six element lens for better performance in poor lighting conditions than ever before.

Very nice shots for sure, but keep in mind the disclaimer at the end "additional hardware used". And clearly evident, some shots have used additional lighting, amongst other things.

So don't expect to achieve these kinds of really great results with just the iPhone7.

Apple always shoots their campaigns in some of the most remote locations. I think this is what really gives the viewer a depth of the world we don't get to see everyday and the potential of the iPhone can photograph in a variety of environments.

Wow, I'm pumped that Apple went with my suggestion, but I wish they'd used the original images I sent over:

also a lot of these have been run through some noise removing software. here we can argue with some skill in that...you can use just about anything.

Low light shots, especially those that trail into blackness....will show "snow" (high iso noise).

even pro bodies and lens do that. Kind of why pro shooters have nice computers and software. get as best you can on body, and what lacks still you fix in post.

Not taking away from how decent the camera is (not a dslr semi or pro body snob lol)..just saying. Now a video or details about the post processing of these would be nice. Whatever noise removal used (and their skill with it as good ones are very customizable)....is pretty kick ass based on quick look over. Colour me interested as to the process and what was used in it.

Plus the usual photography comment of can we see the originals before post as an added bonus. We don't do this to be pricks. We do it because its how you actually test your gear. About to throw down say 1600+ for a dslr, body only, you want to see what it does SOOC (straight out of camera).

Wow! I've never been able to take such good photos.
Taken with an iPhone with additional equipment by professionals/semi-professionals and post-processing, end result see what the iPhone can capture.

I have taken out some beautiful shots with an iPhone 6+/6S+, it depends also on the artist/camera person, some luck and some skill. I have done very minimal post-processing on my pictures, then again I have skill and some luck on my side :)
