Battery packs are heavy and bulky and are yet another item you need to remember to pick up when leaving home. Or risk being left with no power in your smartphone, but nobody does that, we’ve been told.
Now, what if you could have batteries implanted or strapped to yourself, so you’d be guaranteed to have extra juice on the go? Or more realistically, embed them in an object you’d wear anyway, such as your belt.
More or less that seems to be the reasoning behind the Ion Belt – a leather belt with a built in 3,000mAh battery pack. Filling the pack is done by inserting the pin into a USB port, while feeding your electronic device of choice takes place at the tail end of the belt where you have a female USB port. There is also an LED indicator for battery level like on any self-respecting battery pack.
The Ion Belt is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and less than a day into the campaign it’s gathered $20,000 of the $50,000 goal, so it’s looking promising.
