Canonical announced the latest version of Ubuntu 17.10 Artful Aardvark, along with other flavors. It features Linux kernel 4.13, Gnome desktop is the default desktop instead of Unity, GDM has replaced LightDM as the default display manager, GTK 3.26 & Gnome 3.26. Python 2 is no longer installed by default. Python 3 has been updated to 3.6. On supported systems, Wayland is now the default display server.
