Update, July 31: A Panasonic spokesperson has confirmed for DraadBreuk.nl that there are no plans for Panasonic smartphones to launch in Europe. They deem the European market as "too saturated".
Panasonic isn't a brand you hear much about these days in relation to smartphones, but it's announced a new handset in India today.
The Eluga U will be available starting tomorrow for INR 18,990 (which means about $314 or €235 at the current exchange rates).
It comes with decidedly mid-range specs, as you'd expect given that price tag. The screen is a 5-inch IPS panel with 720p resolution and Gorilla Glass 3.
There's a 13 MP camera on the back, with LED flash, and a 2 MP front-facing unit. The phone has dual-SIM functionality, and it's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC with a 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, aided by 2GB of RAM.
Internal storage is at 16GB, but it can be expanded through the use of microSD cards. The Panasonic Eluga U has HSPA+ support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
A 2500 mAh battery keeps things running smoothly, and Android 4.4 KitKat is the software you'll find preinstalled. The Eluga U is just 7.95 mm thick and it weighs 141 grams. It comes in either black or white, with a "textured glass" back.
no matter what people say my loyalty in panasonic will stay...i want this mobile....
My thoughts exactly , but at least it does have a SD card slot - Pity the Xiaomi does not .
