Apple Starts Decorating Howard Gilman Opera House Ahead of Next Week's Event

Ahead of next Tuesday's event focused on new iPad Pro and Mac models, Apple has started decorating the Howard Gilman Opera House at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, which is where the event is set to take place.

Japanese site Mac Otakara this afternoon shared a YouTube video that shows the progress on the decorations at the site.

Apple is applying colorful decals to the arched windows on one side the building in an abstract pattern that looks a little like stained glass. On the other side, there's an arched pattern that's also gaining a colorful set of decals over the bricks of the building.

Over the course of the weekend, Apple is likely to add additional decorations like banners and signs with Apple logos and the same colorful patterns that are being applied to the building.

At Apple's event, we're expecting to see refreshed iPad Pro models with edge-to-edge displays, no Home button, USB-C instead of Lightning, and a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID. The iPad Pro may be accompanied by a second-generation Apple Pencil and we could get a refreshed iPad mini as well.

We're also expecting Apple to refresh a number of Macs, including the 12-inch MacBook, the iMac, and the Mac mini, and there are rumors of a new 13-inch low-cost notebook with a Retina display that could be positioned as either a MacBook or a MacBook Air.

Apple's October 30th event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time because it's taking place on the East Coast instead of the West Coast. Apple will live stream the event on its website and through the Events app on the Apple TV.

For those unable to watch, MacRumors will have live coverage of the event both here on the site and on our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

It is just me, or does this feel like this might be the most interesting event Apple has put on in a while?

Cool video, shame they had to use that horrible music. thankfully i can mute the audio.
I was going to rip into you for not making a meaningful comment, not moving the discussion forward, just adding a negative comment to the thread. But then I didn't for two reasons:
1) How would I be acting differently?
2) I actually watched the video and you are right, the music is so bad it is worth commenting on. And quickly muting.

In any case, I am hoping Apple is going to present a new iPad Pro as rumoured but more... And I don't just mean the Apple Pencil 2 (which, if the USB Type C connector rumour is true then the Apple Pencil 2 probably won't charge from older iPad Pros and may not be compatible).

What I am hoping to see is a new, and newly imagined, Mac Mini. Not because I need one myself but I am tired of cautioning people about how bad a deal the "current" Mac Mini is. Apple might just do a silent upgrade though I am hoping they give it some time on stage to reinforce their message that they still care about Macs.

In any case, you were so right about the music.
